Numbers can get really BIG! Let's learn how India names and writes big numbers — lakhs and crores — and how to compare them.
💯One Lakh: 1,00,000 — that's a 1 followed by 5 zeroes. It's the smallest 6-digit number.
🏆One Crore: 1,00,00,000 — a 1 followed by 7 zeroes. 100 lakhs make 1 crore!
📍Indian commas: We group digits as 3-2-2-2 from the right: ones-tens-hundreds, then thousands, then lakhs, then crores. Example: 12,78,830.
🌎International system: Uses million (10 lakh) and billion (100 crore), grouped 3-3-3 from the right: 1,278,830.
🎯Rounding: Sometimes an exact number isn't needed — we round to the nearest thousand, lakh or crore to make it easier to talk about.
